逃げるのならば、追いはしない。If you are going to run away, I will not chase you.
2. to follow (a set order, a trend, etc.)
指で文字を追いながら読んだ。I read, following the letters with my finger.
3. to drive out; to get rid of; to oust; to expel
それさえなければ、母は村を追われることはなかった。If it hadn't been for that, my mother would never have been driven out of the village.
4. to drive (e.g. a herd)

毎日、仕事に追われている。I'm swamped with work every day.
