1. to draw; to paint; to sketch
だったら私が描いてあげるよ。In that case, I'll draw it for you.
2. to depict; to describe
when read as "えがく"
この小説は戦争の悲しさを描いている。This novel depicts the sadness of war.
3. to picture in one's mind; to imagine
彼女はいつも明るい未来を描いている。She always pictures a bright future.
4. to form a certain shape (e.g. path of an action, appearance of an object, etc.)
飛行機が空に白い線を描いていく。The plane traces a white line across the sky.
