① タカ目タカ科カンムリワシ属に属する猛禽類の一種。全身の羽毛は濃い褐色で、翼や腹部に白斑がある。後頭部に白黒の冠羽が伸びる。森林や湿地に生息し、蛇、蛙、昆虫などを捕食する。東南アジアや南アジアに分布し、日本では沖縄県のでの繁殖が確認されている。特別天然記念物。学名: Spilornis cheela。
