Verb (5-dan, く, intransitive)
1. to reach; to touch; to get to; to carry (of sound)
髪の長さは肩に届かない程度。The length of the hair is such that it does not reach the shoulders.
2. to be delivered; to arrive
すぐに返事を送ったら、届くだろうか。If I send a reply immediately, will it arrive?
3. to be attentive; to be scrupulous; to be thorough
as 目が届く, 神経が届く, etc.
子どもは親の目の届く所で遊ばせよう。Let's have the children play where their parents can keep an eye on them.
4. to be realized (of a desire); to be fulfilled; to get through (to someone); to be appreciated; to make an impression
傍であの子がいくら呼んでも母の心には届かなかった。No matter how much the child called out beside her, it never reached her mother's heart.
